Threshold Health and Performance

Reston, Virginia

Your threshold is higher than they told you.

Physical therapy and performance coaching for athletes who've done the work, followed the program, and still aren't back to their sport.

If you found Threshold, you've already been through the standard PT route. The appointments, the home exercise program, 6 to 8 weeks of protocol that wasn't designed for someone trying to compete.

You're still not back. Still training around it, or watching from the sideline, or just not the athlete you were.

That's the Threshold. I'm here to help you cross it.

Why You're Still Stuck

The approach had a design problem. You were just the one who felt it.

Standard rehab wasn't built for athletes. It runs on 6 to 8 week protocols and diagnosis codes that have nothing to do with the demands of the sport you're trying to get back to.

It treats the diagnosis. Not the system that broke down behind it.

Manage the symptom long enough without resolving what's actually causing it, and the limitation stops feeling like a temporary setback. It starts feeling like your new ceiling.

It isn't.

The CROSS Method

One crossing. No shortcuts.

Every person I work with goes through the same proven sequence. Built to restore function, rebuild confidence, and return you to the life that limitation interrupted.

C

Clinical Assessment

A systematic, joint-by-joint evaluation that finds what everyone else missed. Where it broke down, and why.

R

Reconditioning

Hands-on treatment that addresses the actual system that failed. It starts session one. You don't wait 3 visits to feel a difference.

O

Ownership

The layer most practitioners skip. Addressing the beliefs and self-concept that keep people stuck just as much as the physical problem does.

S

Systematic

A proven sequence behind everything. Nothing is random. You always know why we're doing what we're doing and where we're going next.

S

Support

Ongoing presence through the entire crossing. A real roadmap with someone who knows you as an individual and is invested in where you're going.

The Work

This is what it actually produces.

A high school football player came in with hip tightness that had been limiting his training for years. He'd been managing it on his own, picked up advice from coaches and trainers along the way, but nothing had actually fixed it.

We ran a full evaluation, found exactly where the system had broken down, and started working in session one. The treatment was built around what his body needed and the specific demands of his sport. In under six weeks he was training without restriction and went on to play Division I college football.

That kind of outcome requires a practitioner who can identify the underlying problem rather than manage what's visible on the surface. When that happens, the results look completely different. That's what it means to cross the Threshold.

“You're at the threshold of thinking this is just how it's going to be. That's exactly where the work begins.”

From Patients

What the work produces.

Lars Stevenson is by far the best physical therapist I've ever worked with. He's incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share what he knows. When I had questions between visits, he answered them promptly. I've recommended him to numerous people and will continue to do so.

Strength & Conditioning background

I started my apprenticeship under an Olympic performance coach at 20. I learned sprint mechanics, weight room technique, and injury rehab from the inside out.

By the time I finished my doctorate, I'd worked with sprinters prepping for the Tokyo and Paris Games. That same process is what runs every session at Threshold.

I trained in strength and conditioning before PT school, and that combination is rare. The work reflects it: a joint-by-joint evaluation that finds what everyone else missed, and a method that works through every layer of why something won't resolve.

1:1 care only. No techs. No handoffs. You work with me, start to finish.
